| Pirates 3 Casting |
Let's play who's the odd one out! Today's contenders are a guybrush threepwood, myself, and two six-year-olds.

If you guessed me, you're right: Even small school-children exude more intimidating piratey likeness. But fortunately for those of you who are even remotely better pirates than me, there may be fame in your future! Casting for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is currently underway. You too could be with the likes of Suzanne keiser (Young woman #4) and the always memorable Peter Donald Badalamenti II (Penrod (uncredited))!
Sadly, casting requirements are a bit daunting: "You must be an extreme character type! We need extremely skinny, very tall, very short, hunchback, little people, unusual facial features and body types, (My personal favourite) exotic amputees, albinos, etc.", making it that much less likely. But you, dear reader, obviously don't follow any concept of reason or rational judgment if you are here, so go follow that dream. Call now!Labels: news, pictures of emily, Pirates of the Caribbean |

| The War Zone |

Awkward, unenjoyable sex and rain.
Ah Devon. What a lovely place to film incest and family decay. In fact, it is the setting for Tim Roth's directorial debut about incest and family decay (imagine that!), centering around an isolated British family and their hidden dysfunctions.
Oddly, for a movie about the emotional state of its characters, Roth puts the exaggerated focus on Devon's landscape to provide much of the emotion: using tried-and-true muted colours and long centered shots of rained-out beaches and cliffsides, rather than the characters. Of course, this is your cue to chirp in with a "Why, no no, Emily, you scathing fool! You just don't understand! Their actions alone hold enough impact to play out as the film's emotional crux!" No, I've already taken note of that, you cow, and it fails to work properly. Unfortunately, the connection between their thoughts and actions seem to be left entirely up to the viewer, no visible clues are given because of the lack of full-facetedness in characters, obviously giving the audience the difficult task of watching without being able to properly analyse. Instead, they can only be examined at arms length while every action is left floating with little motivation behind it. But I do forgive you, Tim Roth, because you are, after all,
Tim Roth, and everything you touch is forever hermetically sealed in packaged Badass. Parenthetically, the cast is still engaging; Because emotions are withheld from the camera, when they actually are shown they hold much more weight. But even then, it's not enough to hold the film, there is too much unspoken family history and unexplained personal decisions for this movie to prove to be a successful examination of family dynamic, and instead is just a viewing of unexplained albeit impactful events.
So, 4 Suck out of 10
On a slightly cheerier note, I also found this while searching for The War Zone photos in google images: Labels: British films, Four, Tim Roth, War Zone |

| Burger King to Release Movie |

Not since the likes of The Bicycle Thief or Bergman's The Seventh Seal has the art world been so stirred in enthusiasm. Advertisers Crispin Porter & Bogusky have recently teamed up with the fast-food chain Burger King to write a script for an upcoming ten-million dollar feature film about the restaurant. The plot is currently underway and is said to follow a character who lives in an apartment on top of a Burger King, drawing on inspiration from such films as Napoleon Dynamite. Of course, because of the sheer calibre of artistic integrity, this film will have its detractors, however they are all unrefined clods and wouldn't understand TRUE ART if it slapped them in the face.
Film of the decade, doubtlessly.Labels: bad ideas, Burger King, end of an artform, news |
